I would really love to discover Florence during my stay in Rome. Is it far away from Rome? How much times does it take to driver between the cities or maybe using railway?
Rome is a beautiful city, and that is why you should have at least 4-5 days in Rome. But, if you have even more time, then Firenze is also a beauty and we can totally understand why you would want to visit Florence (Firenze) as well.
The fastest driving road between Rome and Florence is around 275km, but driving the distance should take you around 3 hours. That is a bit much. But, there is a much faster way to travel between Rome and Florence, and that is using the Italian railway system.
There are normally several trains leaving from Rome Termini to Florence every single hour, and the price for such a train can be around 20 Euro. There are of course more expensive tickets available as well, but you can get these travels at quite low fares. And the terrific is that even though it will take you about 3 hours to get from Rome to Florence by car, the train ride only lasts for 90 minutes. You can, therefore, save a lot of time traveling this way, and it is way more convenient.
As your train arrives at Firenze Santa Maria Novella railway station in Firenze you are already in the city center and can easily just leave the station to discover the attractions and sights at once.
It is really easy to travel from Rome to Florence as you can see, and we can warmly recommend this day trip once you have been full of what Rome has to offer and you yearn to discover Florence as well.
